I have a background in Industrial Design, Design Cultures, and a PhD in Fashion and Design for Sustainability. Next to my role at MDD, I am a senior researcher at the Fashion Research and Technology group, within the same faculty. My research was awarded AUAS Research of the year in 2020, to a great extent due to the variety of research methods that I use. This diversity of approaches to research, and their valuable contribution to design practice, is the focus of my lectures.
Before joining the AUAS, I worked for 10 years in design practice and education at several design studios and Universities in Uruguay and Brazil. After moving to the Netherlands, I initiated and carried out a research project at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in collaboration with Waag Society about the environmental implications of digital fabrication in do-it-yourself production.
